Phase 1: Basic Victim Offender Education Group (VOEG) Facilitator Training

This is the starting point for all trainees seeking an understanding of IPP's philosophy, methodology and facilitation model, specifically the VOEG curriculum. This training will offer in-depth exposure and training in the following concepts and skills:
  • Overview of Restorative Justice and  IPP philosophy, methodology and facilitation model
  • Introduction, explanation and demonstration of IPP facilitation techniques
  • Summary overview of the purpose of the VOEG Curriculum
  • Personal opportunities to complete some VOEG exercises and process them in a group setting as well as to facilitate a simulated VOEG group with an IPP Lead VOEG Facilitator/Trainer
  • Participation at a VOEG Survivor Panel in which survivors of severe and violent crime give their Victim Impact Statements and answer trainee questions about how to effectively locate and work with survivors to support healing and personal transformation
  • When available, participation at a 1-Day intensive training conducted by VOEG graduates who are incarcerated at a local State Prison. Participants must pass a CDCR background check to participate in this day of the training.  Or with graduates that have reentered our community and are willing to share their experience and work with trainees for the virtual training.
