Programs Development Manager
Jessie, originally from Montana's Flathead Valley, now calls Oakland her home. She is an AmeriCorps VISTA alumni with a background in writing, volunteer management, fundraising, community engagement, and Restorative Justice. Before joining the IPP team, Jessie volunteered with both California Prison Focus and the Prisoner Advocacy Network, raising awareness and advocating for CDCR prisoners in solitary confinement. She earned BAs in English Literature and Gender Studies from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, where she spent time studying feminist criminology and telling the stories of women and girls impacted by the criminal justice system. Since moving to the Bay Area in 2011, Jessie has been working in nonprofit fundraising while continuing to learn about restorative practices, mindfulness, prison reform, California prison history, and community activism. She is thrilled to be a part of IPP and contribute to such an important project while learning from the truly inspiring IPP team.
